Jessica Moreno

Hi! My name is Jessica Moreno, and I am a recent graduate from Lewis University in Romeoville, Illinois. I currently received my Bachelor of Elementary Education and obtained my teaching license for the state of Illinois. For part of my undergraduate degree, I received a Learning Behavior Specialist endorsement. Also, as part of my undergraduate degree I received my Associate of Arts from the College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn, Illinois. I currently hold a position at Churchill Elementary as a Reading and Math aide. This position lets me support the classroom teacher’s efforts to provide a quality reading/math program to students in the classroom. Also this position reinforces and enriches the reading/math program under the supervision and guidance of the District Literacy/Math Specialist and in consultation with classroom teachers.

Teaching Philosophy

I believe that children deserve an education that is tailored to each of their needs as much as possible. I understand that every student is unique and learns in different ways and at different paces. Therefore, I make it my goal to meet students where they are and lead them towards success in every aspect of their education. I endeavor to create an atmosphere where children are comfortable to ask questions, unafraid to make mistakes, eager to discover, and challenged to go above and beyond their goals and expectations. It is my hope that my students will never want to stop learning!

    Interests

Some things I love other than teaching students are spending time with my large family. Some say I am a foodie, but I just simply love tasting new food from around the world, since I am not able to travel as much as I would like! My favorite place to spend my time is walking my furry baby Mr. Pewi. Pewi is my adorable Jack-Russell terrior mix that brings me so much joy! I also love taking Pewi on long walks as much as I can. I try and put on my ice skates and skate throughout the year summer or winter!
